The concept of the second edition was “Collaboration over Competition”, and the festival theme was “Speak Your Truth”. Artown Festival 2023 encouraged artists to explore this idea freely, without limits. The only requirement was to apply in teams—each mural was created by at least two artists.
We believe that truth is a fundamental pillar for the proper functioning of the world, and even more so for today’s society. We are convinced that only through the power of collaboration can we create a world in which we all grow together.
MY HEART BEATS LIKE A DRUM
Twee Muizen
The work represents a woman playing the drums, it is an artwork that talks about folklore, about the knowledge that past generations have left us with, about the masks we show, what is beyond them, and about a red moon that the artists saw while they were in Ploiești. The geometric shapes are the component that Cristina brings, while the everyday surrealism of Denis is brought through the protagonist character.
Creative Hub
A hidden park, between blocks of flats and old lime trees, behind the former Patria Cinema. A quiet, almost forgotten breathing space, known only to those who pass by often. In 2025, it becomes the core of Artown NOW – a pocket park transformed into a lively hub, activated by art and collective presence.
The transformation starts with observation and listening. Residents want more greenery, more peace and quiet, but also a place that welcomes them. The interventions bring meaning without erasing what was already valuable – the lime trees, the quiet, the intimate corners. Urban furniture designed for dialogue, works that spark conversation, an atmosphere that invites you to stay. A small but dense space where the city becomes more human.
Over 30 activations have redefined it as the living center of the festival. Here, art is lived. It is heard, felt, and learned together. A place reopened to the community, like a heart beating to an urban rhythm.
