27MURALS

23EVENTS

The sensory chaos of the world is speaking to us.
Now, more than ever, we are failing to be present, in our own lives and in the spaces around us. We look, but we don’t see. We observe the world, but not the meanings it carries. No one is blind, yet we all wear glasses.
S(OIL)

Normski

A girl plants seeds in the soil, which is in an old oil barrel. In this barrel, some young shoots have already sprouted, which are shaped like wind turbines. The oil barrel refers to the history of the oil industry in Ploiești, and the wind turbine buds refer to one of the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) - accessible and clean energy. On a barrel of oil, a fresh letter 'S' has been added to the word 'oil' which turns it into a barrel of soil. It represents the transition from old types of energy to new and cleaner ones.

How did the first edition of the Artown Festival feel?
Urban. Alive. Personal. Ten days of raw energy. And just as many days offered to the city of Ploiești, transforming it into a territory of artistic interventions and urban dialogue. Grey walls turned into narrative surfaces. Streets activated through performances, workshops, and spontaneous encounters. A city that began to breathe differently.
Murals reconfigured public space. Rhythms and voices redefined the atmosphere. The spaces between buildings, between people, between day and night — all were reopened through art.
The community became the central point of it all: students, locals, passersby. People who stopped, listened, looked, reacted.
Artown works as an emotional mapping of the city. An urban festival. A living context where color, energy, and presence become instruments of urban reconnection. A rediscovery of the city in a sincere, vibrant form.
